Mumbai celebrates the season’s best offering — Mango

The city is leaving no mango unturned to come up with unique ideas and cater to fruit lovers.

Does the fresh fragrance of the king of fruits entice you? You’re a certified mango lover then. And if mangoes for you mean childhood memories, healthy shakes or unlimited guilt-free binging, this is the time to reach out for them. The city is leaving no mango unturned to come up with unique ideas and cater to fruit lovers. There are mango festivals galore, there’s also mango manicure and pedicure on offer!

Sudhir Pai, executive chef, Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport, says, “We’ve been doing the mango promotion at Saptami for the whole of May. Besides the traditional alphonso delicacies, we are also offering mango desserts like Mango mint tart and Mango brûlée. The idea is to present various preparations of mangoes to the guests.” On offer are their Mango Kulfi, Mango Cheesecake and Mango Lassi, among others.

Meluha The Fern Powai recently hosted a mango fest with dishes such as Mango Pistachio Parfait With Strawberry Pepper Coulis, Mango Basil Melli Feulli With Mango Chili Sorbet and Mango Chocolate Mud Cake With Strawberry Compote. A spokesperson says, “Summers are incomplete without the succulent flavours of our favourite fruit — mangoes! Enjoy mangoes till they last.”

Relish Mango Tiramisu, Mango tarts, Mango brûlée, Mango raspberry Swiss roll, Fresh mango éclairs, among others, at their fest ‘Mango Mania’ till the end of this month. Asia Seven, Palladium, is doing a twist to the traditional mango dishes with recipes such Thai Raw Mango with Palm Jaggery Lemon and Chilli, Raw Mango and Mint marinated Grilled fresh water Prawns, Kesari Mango and Sticky rice, and Fresh Mango Margarita and Daiquiri. JW Marriott hosts a fest that includes delicacies like Mango Pistachio Domes, Mango Mascarpone, Mango Almond Friande, and more.

A more unique way to experience mango is through a mango pedicure and manicure that Rewa Escape offers. A spokesperson says, “We’ve introduced this as a seasonal special. The vitamin C-rich fruit is full of carotene, which has a nutritious and regenerative effect on the skin. Combined with enzyme rich fresh papaya, our delectable mani-pedis help get rid of blotchy skin and smoothen and nourish it to protect against sun damage. We also follow it up with a relaxing hand and foot massage ritual.”
