Trust designer Michelle Salins to come up with something new every now and then. This time around, she’s been inducted into the Linen Club, which has opened doors to very few talented designers. Incidentally, fashion designer Rohit Bal is their brand ambassador.

“I am super excited to be on the same platform as Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Anamika Khanna and others who have made outstanding contributions to linen,” says Michelle about her association with Linen Club. On talking about how she got chosen, Michelle informs, “Someone referred my name to the board and they looked through my body of works and when I sent some of my samples they liked them and decided to have me on board.”

While linen has been quite popular with menswear, it’s the women who don’t get to see multiple varieties of it in their wardrobe. It is perhaps with that thought in mind that the association asked Michelle to design a bridal gown, which is her forte, but in linen. “This is first time ever that a bridal gown will be made in linen and I am designing it exclusively for the collection I am going to showcase for the club,” offers an excited Michelle who will be touring cities with her collection for the Club. “My first show will be at Hyderabad followed by Chennai and then up north and some time later, it will find its way to Bangalore,” she promises.

Talking about her collection, Michelle says, “The collection is formal lounge wear for both men and women and it will have linen jackets, subtle embroidered kurtas and linen pants for men, while for women it will be dresses in Western silhouettes with minimum embellishments.”
