September being ‘fashion month’, DNA gives you the lowdown on the various Fashion Weeks across the country.

What: Lakme Fashion Week

Designers to watch out for: Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, Rocky S, Vikram Phadnis, Neeta Lulla, Nachiket Barve, Nikasha Tawadey andAbdul Halder
Where: Grand Hyatt, Mumbai
When: September 18 to 22
The highlights: After having moved to a better venue last season, things seem to be looking up for the LFW which will be celebrating 10 years with a very special show titled ‘Then, Now Forever’ showcasing the finale designers’ collections from over the last 10 years. It would be a pleasure to see Sabya, Anamika, Tarun Tahiliani and names like Arjun Khanna on the ramp for the same show.

What: Van Heusen India Men’s Week

Van Heusen and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI)
Designers to watch out for: Ashish Soni, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, Abraham and Thakore, JJ Valaya, Rajesh Pratap Singh Narendra Kumar Ahmed. 
Where: The Grand, New Delhi.
When: September 11 to 13
The highlights: The first ever men’s fashion week in India, it has got a fairly good response which explains why there are a total of 28 designers showing exclusive menswear in a period of just three days. The FDCI has also shortlisted contenders for the ‘Van Heusen Emerging Designer of the Year’. The three finalists will be exhibiting their line at the Fashion Week and the winner will be selected on the basis of the presentation of the final line.

What: Kolkata Fashion Week

Designers to watch out for: Satya Paul, Ritu Kumar, Wendell Rodricks, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Mandira Wirk, Anand Kabra, Narendra Kumar and Dev R Nil
Where: ITC Sonar Banga, Kolkata
When: September 9 to 13.
The highlights: More than 40 designers this season as compared to 16 designers last season. There’s a tie-up with United Nations and a special focus on the weavers. There are three shows where the weavers are showcased as designers.
