Mumbai: Here is an interesting marriage between technology and performance arts. If you can't watch a play live at a venue, you will soon be seeing a recorded performance on YouTube.

That exactly what Raell Padamsee and her theatre group is looking to do, after putting up live footage of the rehearsal of their latest play on YouTube.

1888 Dial India is a play that is weaved around the effects of globalisation of new India and what better way than to advertise it on the Internet. Raell says, "The experience of putting up the rehearsals footage of the play have been a lot of fun. Each one is like a mad exploration. Though we are premiering the play in Mumbai and gradually taking it on tours, a lot of people from around the country were very interested to get behind the scene."

With a wink, she adds, "Everyone is interested in green room moments!"
So, apart from their theatre community on networking sites like Facebook and Orkut, fun footage of both crazy and serious moments on the rehearsal floor is being constantly uploaded to suit the fans.

Raell says, "We will also be looking forward to putting up the whole show on YouTube. It sounds like great fun at the moment. The technology revolution is so exciting; it just opens up the world at your feet." The play is set to premier on Sunday.
