Karan Johar made headlines when he made his best friend Shah Rukh Khan walk the ramp for him at the Couture Week where he launched his fashion line with designer Varun Bahl. After that grand debut, word is that he is embarking on an expansion plan and plotting his line’s presence in many Indian cities.

A highly placed insider reveals: “After the successful show at Couture Week,Karan and Varun had several business meetings to decide on broad-basing their line. They are expected to take their brand to many Indian cities and promote it with shows in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. They are ready with a new menswear range and wanted a popular face to model for them. Karan is very good friends with all the stars in Bollywood and so they were in a dilemma whom to approach so that there was no heartburn.”

DNA has learnt that after extensive discussions about who to make the face of the brand, both Karan and Varun decided to play safe. “They wanted to steer clear of any controversy because it is a serious business venture. They decided not to have any single ambassador but rope in several stars in succession to promote their collection. The first one is John Abraham. After him, we hear Ranbir Kapoor and several others will also model for them. Shah Rukh Khan will always be an advisor and patron of the brand as Karan has been styling him in conjunction with Manish Malhotra for the past 12 years.”

When contacted, Karan confirmed the news. “Varun and I have indeed decided to take the brand forward. There will be no face for the brand as everyone is a friend and we would like to approach them all to help us out. As of now, John is on our radar as we want to do a glamourous photo shoot with him in our clothes. Next I’ll be approaching Ranbir Kapoor.”
