When you have an exhibition of jewellery that houses opulent and tasteful elegance created by a revivalist couture jeweller like Roopa Vohra, one just cannot miss it.

The ace designer, who is known for bringing back the old and quaint jewels, is back with her new collection, Nilufer Hatun, that she will be showcasing in the city this weekend.

Roopa, who’s known to add a touch of royalty to her designs, says, “Nilufer Hatun is an eloquent expression of an old art form crafted and revived with a touch of royalty. The inspiration that is taken off from the Turkish times captures the essence of both the old and the new. With incorporation of rubies, diamonds, emerald and other stones, the collection will give a reflection ahead of time.”

Elaborating, she adds, “We have come up with some exquisite neckpieces, danglings, pendants and more based on this collection. We will also be housing other collections like the thewa, rosecut, kundan meena and more, where each piece of jewellery depicts the story of inheritance of Indian traditions and culture, in a very contemporary style.”

Commenting about the jewellery lovers of the city, Roopa says, “I’ve been showcasing my work in Bangalore since 1992 and visit the city atleast thrice a year. My clients range from those hailing from a traditional family to people looking for contemporary designs. The city has become an important market for us.”

This time around, the designer has roped in Kannada actor Nikita Thukral to showcase her collection.

Be at Taj West End, Race Course Road on December 11 and 12, from 11am onwards. The elegant pieces of Nilufer Hatun will be priced at `1 lakh and above, while pieces from the other collections start at Rs30,000.
