Looks like Mumbai is the new hotspot for high-profile international events. Even as the city gears up to welcome Prince Andrew Duke of York, a French gourmet show is set to lure true blue foodies here. The two events coincide, reaffirming India’s position on the list of the elite and the royal visits.

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, is scheduled to set foot in Mumbai tomorrow, to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Andrew will tour India till May 6. The visit demonstrates the importance the UK attaches to their relationship with India.

The visit will apparently incorporate a wide range of themes, from inclusive development and defence ties to the growing business relationship. His engagements will illustrate how British-Indian relations have changed over the 60 years of the Queen’s reign and look forward to an even closer partnership in the future.

According to the information provided by the British Deputy High Commission, his schedule will be packed. In Delhi, where he arrives first, the Duke will view the Agragami project. The Duke is also slated to travel to Kohima, Nagaland, to visit the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery.

It may be recalled that the Battle of Kohima in World War II claimed thousands of lives of British and Indian servicemen, and it would be the first time that a member of British Royalty visits this historic place. He will also visit Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.

In Mumbai, the Duke will visit India’s Western Naval Command and the Dhirubhai Ambani International School. He will also meet leading members of Mumbai’s business community. The event at the Taj Lands End hotel is expected to see an elite turnout from the city’s society and business circuits.

The day of this event interestingly also coincides with a French food show, ‘Flavours of France’. Paris Region Economic Development Agency (PREDA) will be hosting a French gourmet show at Tote to highlight the Paris Region Agri-Food Trade Shows. Present will be Jean-Luc Margot-Duclot, Senior Vice-President PREDA, along with Valerie Lobry, Managing Director of the Agriculture and Food Division for Comexposium. The event is to offer a glimpse into the trade shows in the region of Paris and the participation from India is reportedly on the increase in these shows.

“The Paris Region Trade Shows serve as a platform for innovation, creation as well as serious business. Trade relationship between India and France is already important and has a strong potential. The French and Indian markets offer major business opportunities for exporters and importers of both countries. The ever-growing number of international exhibitors testifies to the Paris Region shows’ worldwide prestige, as does the presence of world-class experts and industry figures participating in these events,” says Duclot.
