The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, in co-operation with the Federation of Film Societies in India, is organising an international film festival from November 8 to 20, 2010, in an attempt to take the healthy film culture beyond the urban centres.

“Entries had come for 110 films from 20 countries. We will be screening 82 films. Eight Kannada and 20 other Indian language films will be screened. The rest will be from across the world,” academy chairman TS Nagabharana said at a press conference.

The films will be screened in a digital format. “We need not hire regular cinema theatres. We will screen films in auditoria with good acoustics. LCD projectors will be used to screen the films. We are exploring newer avenues to help serious filmmakers find an alternative to reach non-metro cities,” he added.

The films will be screened at Bangalore, Bidar, Shimoga, Dharwad and Mangalore in the first leg of the festival. In the second leg of the festival, the films will be screened at Mysore, Bellary, and Belgaum in December.

In Bangalore, the films will be screened at Yavanika auditorium on Nrupathunga Road, Suchitra Film Society in Banashankari, and Seva Sadana in Malleswaram. Passes are available at the screening venues. The price is Rs50 for a daily pass, Rs100 for a student season pass and `200 for a regular delegate pass.
