Mumbai: If you've heard all the wacky "Hindish" rapping going on in the middle of many of the recent Bollywood songs, it's bound to be Url ED. Case in point the jabbering in Zara Zara touch me from Race. "It's not gangster of bhai type rapping that I do. It's the groovy Indian lingo -- cool, junta type casual rapping," says Url.
Though he's done a couple of songs like Get Up (it goes: Get Up and Go, Chalo) for a party album called Burn The Dance Floor, he's really kicked about his own album which he's working on. "I don't have a name for it but it's going to be completely my style -- URL-what he calls the Urban Rustic Lingo," say Url. He defines it as a vibe that's very Indian sound but for the dance floor.
Check this song from Aa Dekhe Zara: Baby Kare le this time right...aha kismet kar le fight....don't let kismet maro...baby don't lose hope...don't you haro...all you people fight it fight...taqdeer hai so make it right....from the Mumbai bugger....the delhi bhai....live it like you want it...come on live your life... . Url writes his own lyrics and that's the reason why most music directors have been vying for him to add his touch. "I create sounds and characters when I sing," he says.
Url though is not hung up only on rapping. He has produced and programmed many songs. He's also sung songs like You're my Love, Hello and Bang Bang. Incidentally he has been singing a lot of high energy songs for apna Sallubhai. "People say my voice suits him. I would love to sing more songs for him."
