Some of the best photographs featuring 30 crisis zones worldwide, including Bosnia Herzegovina, Brazil, Colombia, India, Israel and Sri Lanka were on display at the photo exhibition organised at Prashant on Sunday.

The exhibition features people's plight in the aftermath of war in the war-ravaged countries. Organised by Peace Counts, the project documents successful peace projects around the world and is being organised in Gujarat for the first time.

The director of Prashant and organiser of exhibition in Ahmedabad, Father Cedric Prakash, said, "With the support of Delhi-based INSAF ( Indian Social Action Forum), the exhibition titled as 'Peacebuilders around the world' is going to travel across India with an aim to encourage dialogue with different groups working professionally on conflict resolution and peacebuilding."

He also said that the exhibition would move to far-flung areas of Gujarat and target students and other people to explain the importance of peace in peoples’ lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Gujarat High Court advocate Girish Patel said, "Peace means distracting the viewers gaze from mere scenes of war to the root causes and solutions to the conflict."

The speakers also said that peace can arise whenever the bombed-out people have a roof over their heads again, when the orphan reunite with families; when enemies speak to each other or when children in a single town or village can again attend school.

The project 'Peacebuilders around the world' is sponsored by the Culture Counts Foundations and it is recognised by UNESCO as a contributor to the International Decade for a Culture of Peace.
