Dressing for a date is never easy. And when it is on Valentine’s Day the pressure of looking good shoots up to a whole new level. Picking the right dress, putting on the perfect makeup and getting the right hair-do are all critical especially when you want to make the date a night to remember. Going with the mood of the moment, DNA along with model Faith Pandey shows you how to dress it up for the overflowing-with-mush day with a lot of class and a hint of sexy.
About model: Faith Pandey defies the cliché that models are just pretty faces. The psychology graduate was crowned Miss South India 2009 and went on to participate in a national level beauty contest. With that great a start, Faith today is among the most popular models in the city. “The entire shoot was fun, fun, fun” she exclaims.
Colour me pretty
Makeup artiste Shaggy decided to keep the look simple yet dewy-fresh. Starting with foundation to conceal the dark circles and brighten her complexion, Shaggy chose to apply a dark brown foundation along the ridge of the nose, to define and make it look sharper. Eye make-up is something you’ve to pay attention to for this look. After applying base to the lids, Shaggy coloured the outer corner a dark brown and the inner corner, beige. She completed it with a thin line of eyeliner that was flicked up at the end. She then painted a line of matte gold below the lower eyelid, which lent a subtle glow to the eyes. Deviating from the usual pink blusher, the make-up artiste brushed on a dark brown shade on Faith’s cheeks, contouring it to perfection. To leave her lips looking sun-kissed, Faith opted for a coat of peach-pink lipstick. The over-all effect left Faith looking fresh and bright.
Dress me up
The idea was to go for a classy look so Faith picked a teal satincocktail dress with a combination of cross and butterfly pleats for an elegant cut and style. that fell right till her knees. “I picked the dress because it went with the theme of the shoot. I also like the colour,” she smiles. Gals, this is where you’ve got to take notes: While choosing a dress for a classy date, first ensure the fit of the dress is right. Also, instead of sticking with the de rigeur red or black, go for a subtle shade like teal or midnight blue that add a sophisticated yet mysterious allure to you. To complete the look, Faith wore glittering silver shoes.
Tress pass
Hassle-free and simple was the catch phrase and so hairstylist Romi decided to keep it open with curls. Using nothing more than a hair iron and some hair spray to hold the curls, Romi worked up the tousled curls look, that succeeded in giving Faith a child-woman vibe. That’s exactly what men love in their women.
Li’l add-ons
A shiny silver, white and blue bead necklace to compliment her dress and silver shoes were the only accessories Faith chose to sport. Keeping it ultra-simple, she decided against earrings. But with lovely curls framing her face, she could afford to give them a go-by. Another point to be noted: while on a date, keep it simple with jewellery.
