Gone are the days when a whole kilo of cake or a dinner out was what it took to bid your heart’s desire. Of course, there are takers for that too, but in the fitness-conscious generation, it’s the bite-sized cupcakes and small heart- shaped desserts that are
increasingly making for Cupid’s chariots. Read on…

Message on a cake...
Neeru Mehra and daughter Shraddha who have been dishing out the goodies since a few years now are as busy with V- Day orders as ever. “Food is the language of love. So many people ask for heart-shaped waffles, a little savoury here and there, mini cakes with personalised messages and strawberries dipped in chocolate too.” While the choices range from regular, middle to bite-sized they come specially wrapped too, in pin and white cellophane, red ribbons etc. “The cupcakes and brownies can stay outside for four to five days,” informs Mehra.

Love the choices
Shapes and flavours are as fun as they get. Malini Akerkar has a variety of sweet nothings at her deli with lots of unique  flavours to choose from. “One can have passion fruit, blueberry cheese cake, lemon, orange, madagascar, vanilla   and red velvet with cream cheese frosting ones,” she reveals.

With the cupcake holding its own against its larger cousin, are you buying it yet? To each his or her own frosting!
