Guess what designers Nitin Bal Chauhan and Little Shilpa are seeking inspiration from, for their upcoming lines at the fashion week in Mumbai? The duo had to hark back to their childhood and revel in their favorite cartoons to translate those memories into designs on screen.
Talking about the experience of doing so,designer Little Shilpa says that she had a whale of a time watching umpteen number of cartoons for this assignments. “I loved watching cartoons as a kid too, but who doesn’t? I was inspired mostly by the symbols that spoke of Mickey and Minnie mouse for my line,” says Shilpa. Both Nitin and Shilpa have created a line comprising of apparel, headgear, accessories, bag and the like.
While Nitin is known as an apparel designer, Shilpa is known for her range of headgear and accessories. So how did she take to designing apparel this time around? “The fact is that I started out as a fashion designer but I used to keep my clothes simple so that the emphasis was my accessories. But I enjoyed doing clothes this time,” says Shilpa.
The line, informs Shilpa, is specifically targeted at adults. “Internationally, the brand caters to adults. I think they’re trying to break out of the kids-only market in India too now,” she adds.
