As they prepare to tie the knot, they are even ready to go under the knife in search of that 'perfect look' for their wedding day.

An increasing number of would be brides and bridegrooms are queueing up before cosmetic surgeons ahead of their 'D-Day', with some asking for a perfect nose while others seeking fat reduction.

While people seeking liposuction, nose jobs or breast implants are a regular feature at cosmetic clinics, their number often goes up ahead of the wedding season, surgeons say.

Dr Anup Dhir, a cosmetic surgeon at the Apollo clinic in Delhi, says the trend has really grown in the last decade.

"Earlier people, mostly young girls, used to come for treatment that was absolutely necessary, like in the case if they had specific skin issues like scars.

"But the trend had grown in the recent years with people coming in for more treatments that can be classified as not as necessary. They are coming just for enhancing their looks," he said.

The doctor says while women always came to his clinic, the trend has really caught up with men in the last five to six years. "On an average, I am treating every month, 10 to 20 people, seeking therapies ahead of their weddings," he said.

Doctors say one of the most common cosmetic therapies that people ask for are liposuctions that involve removal of  fat from different parts on the body.   Other sought after therapies are rhinoplasty or nose job, scar removal, besides breast augmentation and reduction lip augmentation.

"Another interesting trend we have observed lately is that besides the would-be brides and bridegrooms, their close relatives also come seeking treatments," says Dr Meenakshi Agarwal, a cosmetic surgeon who runs 'Face & Figure', a clinic in Mahim, Mumbai.

Dr Agarwal says the trend, earlier the preserve of the rich, has also found acceptance in the middle income group. Liposuction, which requires two to three months to complete, costs anywhere between Rs 60,000 and 1.5 lakh, and A nose job also costs the same amount.

Cost of breast implants may be between Rs one to Rs 1.5 lakh and the therapy for male breast reduction costs around Rs60,000. Also popular are non-surgical treatments like chemical peals and botox and facial fillers for wrinkle reduction.
