A new survey has revealed that it’s not a saggy tummy or dimpled thighs that women hate the most, it’s “bingo wings”.

Three-quarters will not put their upper arms on display because they are worried they are untoned and flabby. And a survey has revealed Britain’s high streets are doing nothing to help women’s crisis of confidence.

Prima magazine is running a Call to Arms campaign in response to hundreds of letters and emails the magazine has received complaining about the dearth of stylish clothes with flattering sleeves.

Now a survey of 1,300 women for the magazine has found that 93% think there is a lack of stylish clothes to hide the problem, reports the Daily Express.

Designers claim manufacturers often overlook clothing to cover-up arms and instead favour designs that just hide tummies and flatten hips.

Some 98% of women surveyed have walked out of a shop empty-handed as a result, and 38% said they were so embarrassed by their bingo wings that they have avoided waving or moving their arms around in public.

Four out of five have resorted to some kind of cover-up. Cardigans, jackets, shrugs and pashminas are their main choices. But almost everyone would happily ditch them for a stylish pair of sleeves.

Style guru Nicky Hambleton-Jones said, “It’s about time fashion woke up to the fact that most women feel self-conscious showing off their arms.”

And Loose Women TV host Andrea McLean said, “Come on designers, cover up our arms.”
