Moumita Roy Chowdhury and Tirsha Das, M&T
This Kolkata-based designer duo will be showcasing at BFW for the first time under the Gen Next category. Their line for BFW is titled Under the Sea and features Indo-Western outfits in shades of blue, gray and green. “Our signature style focuses on pattern and construction variation. Most of our designs are based on women’s street wear,” they offer. With 16 ensembles to be showcased at BFW, the line will highlight fabrics like tussar, silk, khadi, cotton and crepe among others.

Tasneem Merchant
Showcasing under the emerging designer category, Tasneem Merchant will be putting forth 16 outfits at BFW this year. With a design focus on Western, Indo-Western, fusion and bridal wear, her collection is titled Myriad Hues, which is a mixture of colours, hidden layers and complexities with powerful effects. “The fashion week collection is a research for improved global aesthetics for garments that come with a distinct vision and lucid cerebralism,” Tasneem explains. The collection is elusive and feminine, creating a landscape of floating three dimensional forms, she offers. “Shades of lilac, wine, silver and grey in the line achieve tonal effects, with geometric and angular textures to form linear and asymmetrical drapes in fabrics like nets, lace, georgettes, metallic tissue and shibori silks,” adds Tasneem.

Anuradha Paul
With over 180 shows to her credit, this Bangalore-based designer and choreographer is all set to showcase her latest collection in BFW. “The theme of my collection is called Virgo. It describes all the characteristics of the sun sign — feminine, bold, stylish and charming and that’s what my collection is all about,” says the designer. Her collection consists of 32 ensembles that include western trousers, shirts and party wear that range from darker to lighter shades. Since the collection is completely western, she has hardly used any embellishments, explains Anuradha.

Prodip Polley and Subhankar Das P & S
First timers at Blenders Fashion Week Bangalore Fashion Week (BFW), Prodip and Subhankar will be showcasing their collection titled Break the Boundaries, under the Gen Next category. The collection features western street wear, focusing on print and cut variations. With 16 outfits on offer, the collection which highlights natural fabrics like linens and cottons, aims to strike a chord with the new-age Indian, add the designer duo.

Shivani and Joy
Designer duo Shivani and Joy will be coming together for the first time at BFW this year. With high expectations from the city, they are hoping to meet a lot of ardent fashion lovers at the fashion week. With their expertise in silhouettes, the duo has come up with a line of collection keeping Bangalore’s weather in mind. “The theme, titled Beautiful Grunge, offsets the turbulence of the rain in a fashionable way. Monsoon is a season of climatic celebration, but in context of city life, it brings with itself filth and dirt, which is the very vibe of the collection,” says Shivani.

Their design line that consists of 12 ensembles is a pure western prêt line consisting capris, jump-suits, short jackets and futuristic wear. Since their collection is inspired by dirt and filth of garbage, the colour palette ranges from muted shades of brown, blue, green, khaki, rust and colourful technical detailing.

Neeta Lulla
The czarina of Indian fashion, Neeta Lulla, is a hot favourite on the Bollywood fashion scene. Having designed for the likes of Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, she has also won the Nation Award for the costume design for the film Jodhaa Akbar. Her collection at BFW will showcase a diffusion line with a romantic feel. “It’s free flowing in form and style and is very stylised with strong influences of the 1920s,” says Neeta about her line, which will feature georgette and jerseys. The line will include churidar kurtis and more in vibrant colours.

Pam and Arch
The designer duo, based out of London has been showcasing in the country. “We feel that BFW will be the ideal platform to bring Pam & Arch and Muraad, London, into India’s fashion industry,” they offer, adding that they have a third partner Muraad, who is also part of the design house. The duo will showcase two labels at BFW this year, one being the Pam and Arch signature line with vibrant and stunning prints and the other a high-fashion, couture line under the label Muraad. Pam and Arch’s collection theme will feature Reflections of Light-Reflections of Life, while Muraad will showcase a flamboyant summer collection with a hint of feminine mystery and intrigue.

Piyush Bhaakhariya, Entwine
Showcasing at BFW for the first time, Piyush is being featured in the Gen Next category. His design line, Entwine, encompasses grandiose and the East meets West style, concentrating on silhouettes, reflecting relaxed sophistication and subdued classiness, he explains. The collection, of 12 ensembles, is inspired by the sailor and yachting theme with minimal and masterful additions to classical cuts. Shades of greens, blues, lilac and whites, with natural fabrics, coupled with innovative waistlines and accessories, will be the highlight. “My designs speak a different language and I hope they will resonate with the young fashion forward man,” adds Piyush.
