Artist Rouble Nagi with her installation at Carter Road
|
If you’re driving into Carter Road, do catch the latest fixtures on it.
They’re artist Rouble Nagi’s public sculpture and a mural that were installed there a few days ago. They are to be permanent fixtures at the Carter Road in Bandra and has the artist thrilled over the move. Says Rouble, “Mumbai is a beautiful city and I thought why not make it more beautiful - after all, it’s public installations that add to the aesthetic value of the city.”
She further explains her art works. “The sculpture is named Journey Through The Ocean and is made of fiber and tile mosaic. One is a wall mural, done keeping the sky line and sea line of the city. It shows the promenade of Carter Road and the vertical growth of the city and one can say that it is the artistic expression of Bandra.” She adds, “I am glad that the right people supported me in getting these installations at Bandra’s Carter Road.”
Rouble also organised an art camp with the kids of NGO Pratham in the city, The art works created by the kids will be auctioned in London and Dubai. Rouble says, “I have been working with Pratham since 2007 and they are really doing a great job. I have not really supported any NGOs earlier because I think that most of these organisations do not utilize their funds in the right way, but Pratham works really hard.” She adds, “Through involving kids in this camp we are trying to keep them away from getting into any kind of anti-social activities.”
Funds from the charity auction will go towards the welfare of these kids. The art camps are organised in schools and slums. “My volunteers personally go to kids in slums and supply them with necessary tools to start painting.” she ends.
