Bachendri Pal to head women adventure group

The group will spread environmental awareness both in urban and rural areas and also explore possibilities of self employment for women.

First Indian woman to summit Mount Everest, Bachendri Pal will be the founder president of Women Adventure Network of India (WANI), a group which aims to empower the fairer sex through adventure.
    
A select group of celebrity women adventurists assembled here have decided to set up WANI which is a brain child of few passionate women adventurers, joint secretary Bimla Negi Deoskar told reporters here in presence of Pal.
    
"We believe that all women should get an opportunity to take part in adventure activities and it would provide a platform where women across the country can get a chance to participate," Pal and Deoskar said.
    
The group will spread environmental awareness both in urban and rural areas and also explore possibilities of self employment for women.
    
During the current year, a cycle expedition by 25 women will commence from Kolkata to Kanyakumari covering a distance of about 3000 kms. It will conduct cleaning Himalaya's movement every year, secretary Vasumathi Srinivasan, a Limca record holder for Camel Safari, said.
    
Besides Pal, G Anita Devi, Chaula Jagirdar, Major Ashwin Pawar, Suman Kutiyal, Gangotri Indumati, Anita Vaidya, Bharti Gomase, Jigna Modh, Krishna Thakur, Neeraja Dharmadhikari, Reena Dharamsaktu, Smita Srinivasan, Krishna Patil, Garima Sapre, Mamata Sodha, Anita Soresn and Premlata Agarwal are members-officer bearers of WANI.
