After dressing Spice Girl Mel B, it’s the turn of actor Bai Ling who has starred in TV show Entourage, films such as Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Crank: High Voltage, etc, to wear a Ritu
Kumar outfit. She did so at a recent event.
Designer Ritu Kumar’s pret line, handled by her son Amrish Kumar, is a design endeavor that aims to offer fashion that is applicable to the young Indian girl in metro’s today. Its influences are global as are the inputs that make it up.
Their identity originates from the traditional and classical Indian craft and design which is translated into a fashion oriented, international and modern offering.The look is sophisticated and carefully crafted.
When DNA spoke to Amrish Kumar on the line becoming a hit amongst Hollywood celebs, he said,“Of course, it’s a great feeling to have your work appreciated. What’s most gratifying is that the aesthetic of our brand is beginning to get recognised outside our own shores.”
So are there any alterations that are made in the line, to cater to consumers abroad. “At the moment there are no alterations being made. We merely send only the more pertinent parts of the collection to these markets.”
His future plans for the brand are, “We have been asked to start some amount of red carpet dressing plus there is a great demand for us to supply a larger collection. So we are working on these areas,” he ends.
