Bollywood has one basic rule — you have got to be stylish to be noticed. It’s not just about the image actors portray on the screen, but the fact that thousands of fans look up to them for inspiration. So who are the most stylish women of Bollywood? On International Women’s Day, DNA gets designer Mandira Wirk to list five of her favourite actors, considering she has styled some of Bollywood’s best faces…

Shilpa Shetty
Talk about fashion and one of the first names to come to Mandira’s mind is Shilpa Shetty; she has the perfect height and body to go with. Right from selling yoga DVDs to starting a spa, whatever Shilpa has done, she has done in style. Mandira says, “Shilpa is always well dressed; whether she is in designer wear or not. I have seen some of the other female actors go wrong at some point or the other but Shilpa is someone who has been consistent and immaculately turned out.”

Sonam Kapoor
From the newest crop of leading ladies, Sonam Kapoor’s name comes first when one talks about style. And not just in her films, Sonam is one fashionista off the screens as well. Mandira says, “Sonam is extremely elegant and stylish and even though her style statement is always understated, she has a high style quotient and no one can ignore that.”

Priyanka Chopra
She didn’t become a beauty queen without a reason. Priyanka Chopra is considered to be one of the sexiest women of Bollywood. “Whether it is a gown or of shorts, Priyanka looks good in anything. She has a good sense of style and I have never been disappointed in her taste of clothes,” says Mandira.

Deepika Padukone
Before becoming an actor Deepika stepped into the world of glamour as a model. Apart from a height to boast, she has a face that can launch a thousand brands. “How can I forget Deepika? She will always be on my list of favourites. She epitomises style and dresses flawlessly. So far, I have not seen her make a fashion blunder and carries herself with class. She’s also one of the few women who can wear an Indian ensemble as elegantly as she’d a western outfit,” says Mandira.

Katrina Kaif
According to Mandira, “Katrina carries off the cute look better than most actors her age. And even though she isn’t Indian, she wears the looks superbly and she can pull of a sari in style. However, I think short skirts are what make her look fabulous.”
