As part of Ahmedabad's 600th year celebration, Raheel Patel of Vaarso and Mihir Desai of Sambhav Infrastructure jointly came forward to plan the most decorative cake weighing 850 kg, to be cut on the February 25, at midnight at the Gajjar Hall, Law Garden.
"People representing Ahmedabad such as sculpture artists Kantibhai Patel, Ratilal Kansodariya, Jasuben Shipi and artists
such as Mahendra Kadiya, Hakubhai Shah, Natubhai Mistry, Amitbhai Ambalal have been invited for the cake cutting ceremony.
Photographers such as Pranlal Patel, Surendra Patel, Jhaverilal Mehta and singers like Arti Munshi, Shyamal Munshi and Nayan Pancholi have also been invited," said Patel.
He added, "The process of making the cake is still on and we will be ready with it by 6:30pm on Thursday. Once the cake is cut 600 white balloons will be flown in the skies of Ahmedabad along with some fireworks representing peace and prosperity. Post this, the packaging of the cake will start and it will be distributed in every Amdavadi home on the next morning.”
“The purpose behind this is to make everyone a part of the celebration," he added.
Two hundred artworks have been carved over the cake depicting Badshah Ahmed Shah's famous saying of 'Jab kutte pe sassa aaya, tab badshah ne shahar basaya,' with a fine picturisation of the same along with an original sketch of Ahmedabad city, its monuments and other important incidences of Ahmedabad.
"Prominent personalities of Ahmedabad such as Geet Sethi, Mallika Sarabhai, Nariman Cama, Kamalbhai Mangaldas and Esther David have been invited to grace the occasion. The cake is 239 feet tall, with 14 inches width and has also been registered with the Limca book of records," said Patel.
"Thirty cake vendors have been involved in the process of making the 850-kg cake stand tall," mentioned Patel.
