Mumbai: After watches and cream lids, Manish Arora has decided to try his hand out at designing bone china. Curiously, his bone china design line is called Fish (to) Fry.

He says, "I wanted to work on cutlery so we approached Good Earth and they thought the collaboration was a great idea. The cutlery was our canvas and we created sketches on them. It is really not that difficult to put the designs on plates and bowls but we do have to follow some parameters of design. The artwork was created keeping in mind that chinaware is a luxury product -- it has to look amazing on your dinner table."

Manish has just returned from showcasing at the Paris Fashion Week and there his show was hailed by many in the press as one of the best. So what made him stand out?
He says, "I think I was consistent in my delivery. My Spring/Summer 2010 collection is more mature and that was much appreciated by the critics and buyers. The looks are strong, modern and very wearable. There was no standout theme this time unlike my previous collections which had jungle and circus as themes."

Manish does not want to work with Bollywood stars. He says, "I don't have any reason in particular (for not working in Bollywood). My concentration is on other projects and collaborations."

Manish is very popluar with Hollywood celebrities. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Mel B have been spotted wearing his creations. He explains, "I think they connect to my designs and that is the reason they keep asking for my garments. After every show we get requests from stylists of pop stars asking for looks to use in their videos and photo shoots.
It is because my designs are visually very strong and there is a lot of surface embellishments and detailing. The celebrities want to be pictured wearing something that is unique and beautiful, so they come to me."
