We are at the peak of the wedding season and soon it will be time to go shopping for Christmas and New Year gifts. While gifts like watches, perfumes, bags, shoes and clothes are sort of outdated, one thing that you can try out this time is art prints.

One of the international auction houses is having a special sale of prints of the works of the masters like Picasso, Chagal, Toulouse-Lautrec and Andy Warhol on December 15. The price range of these works range between Rs60,000 and Rs27,75,500. The Bonhams sale on December 15 will be held in London and buyers in India can purchase these prints online as well. The highlight of this sale is an image of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol, signed and numbered by the artist which is estimated for Rs20 lakh.

Robert Kennan, head of prints, Bonhams, says, “This sale offers a wonderful opportunity to buy something really special for someone you love that would make a major impact. Works by some of our greatest modern and contemporary artists are available at prices that are more affordable than you realise. And if you buy wisely this will be a gift that keeps growing as its value appreciates over the years.”

Back home, we have an exhibition titled The Mark Of the Masters II that has on offer etching portfolios of 12 Indian artists which will be available for just Rs4,25,000. The 50 limited edition pieces include etchings by artists Anupam Sud, Arpana Caur, Laxma Goud, Paresh Maity, Lalitha Lajmi, Yashpal Chandrakar, Shuvaprasanna, Nirmalendu Das, Sarbari Roy Chowdhury, Jogen Chowdhury, Lalu Prasad Shaw and Dipak Banerjee.

Mark Of Masters II will begin on 3 December and continue simultaneously at two art galleries: Gallery Art and Soul, Worli and Tradition Art, Juhu.
