Aldo Magada, President & CEO of Zenith Watches was recently in India to showcase one of the most iconic timepieces—History of Zenith. It is one of the four pocket watches, which was a part of the series that was owned by Mahatma Gandhi. "The main objective of this event at the Rose Watch Bar, Mumbai is to reactivate the market for Zenith in India. The brand has a strong presence in South East Asia; India is an important market, but we were under-represented here. Having worked in the Swiss watch industry for almost 35 years with different brands in various responsible positions, I have developed a fair understanding of this industry.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Zenith alarm pocket watches were preparing to travel the world like authentic globe-trotters. The alarm pocket-watch made its first appearance in 1916 in Indian newspapers, in which it was advertised. Indira Gandhi gifted a sterling silver version of this timepiece to Mahatma Gandhi. Before his death, Gandhi gave the watch to his granddaughter and assistant Abha Gandhi; the watch then subsequently came into the hands of private collectors," said Magada.
