At a meeting hosted by AGNI A/ward, MLA Raj Purohit kept in mind the inputs of citizens to chalk out a plan of action for them
A good neighbourhood is one where both the citizens and the authorities work in tandem for its betterment. Recently, AGNI A/ward did just that. Hosting a meeting at Colaba, this ward connected both newly-elected MLA Raj Purohit and its members and discussed possible solutions to grievances related to their area. The residents of this VIP ward shared, with Purohit, issues that this zone is plagued with, only to devise a strategy one can work on.
Be it better footpath or hawker-free roads, no illegal parking or improving the crime graph, a number of woes were raised by these residents. Purohit, who is well-acquainted with the concerns of this ward, said, "I have a compiled list of the issues, and will start working around it soon."
Since the MLA's constituency includes A/ward, B/ward and parts of C/wards, the attendees were keen on knowing how much of the whooping two crore per annum from the MLA's fund will be utilised for the developmental of A/ward. Purohit explained, "Committing a certain amount of fund to this particular ward will be unfair. My plan is to know the major as well as the urgent issues from the entire constituency, post which I will set my priorities."
The ward is up for a number of facelift plans, which are now in the pipeline. The two most immediate plans of redevelopment are that of The Sassoon Docks and Bombay Port Trust (BPT) Garden. Purohit announced that one of the gates of the Docks is redone majorly. Not only will this allow the preservation of the gate, it will also beautify it only to make it an artistic piece of work in the city.
Purohit added, "The gate should be ready in a month's time and will look quite amazing. The work on the BPT garden near Colaba bus depot will start soon as well."
Jennifer Shetty, coordinator, AGNI A/ward, shares, "MLA Purohit is highly pro-active and is inclusively involved in working with the citizens. He has promised to dedicate his time for the issues of A/ward."
