Why Indians love Vienna?

With over 6.2 million tourists from around the world spending 13.5 million overnight stays (6.3% more than in 2013), the overnight stays defined as the number of nights spent, represent a new all-time high in Vienna. Indian tourists continue to be charmed by Vienna’s beauty with the number of overnight stays recording an 18.4 % growth and 64, 621 overnight stays, in 2014. “Indian tourists visiting Vienna increased in number as a result of our focus on honeymooners and young travellers. Vienna Tourist Board hopes to reach the 100,000 overnight stays from Indian travellers by 2017,” says Isabella Rauter, Team Manager, Vienna Tourist Board.

While Vienna's top five markets in 2014 includes Germany, Austria, USA, Italy and Russia, countries that showed strong growth included South Korea, India, China and Brazil. There's something to do for everyone; kids can entertain themselves in recreation areas like Prater and younger visitors can opt for day trips, hikes and bicycle tours to Vienna Woods and Lobau (the jungle of the Viennese), where travellers can skate, have a picnic, hike or even swim or go boating in the river Danube. 

In addition to offering a brilliant mix of imperial history and art collection, Vienna is equally well known for its Viennese cuisine. You can relax in one of Vienna’s famous coffee houses and enjoy a cup of coffee and delicious pastry, while you watch the bustling street life. Some of the most traditional coffee houses are found in the old city centre. But for those Indians, who are missing home food, there are plenty of restaurants offering a delightful Indian fare.
