Designer Archana Kochhar’s exquisite bridal range is a tribute to two of India’s biggest dynasties and the rich tapestry of the country as a whole.

Think bridal and Archana Kochhar is a name you must check out. And if you have been a regular at the Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week, you’ll know why.

Global sensibility, exquisite embroidery and nouveau texture techniques are the hallmarks of her collection and Bridal Sutra, her latest, is no exception. Her new collection is  an amalgamation of diverse cultures, taking inspiration from India. “My collection is inspired in particular by the richness of the Mughal era and pays homage to the beautiful city of Hyderabad and the Nizams. It will see the coming together of  the rich Mughal culture and the vibrant and vivid colours of Nizami Hyderabad,” says Archana.

The colour palette promises to be majestic. Ivory, rust, red, maroon, black, royal blue, bottle green, rich gold and shimmery silver are the colours that will dominate the collection, which includes lehengas, sherwanis, anarkalis and saris. From zardosi to beaded gold work, appliqué to crystal and heavy jadau to antique gold and silver thread work — this collection that uses silk, brocade, satin, velvet, georgette, net and chiffon, is heavily embellished.

“This collection is for brides and grooms looking for distinct Indian wear that come with a modern twist,” Archana summarises. Can’t wait to see the models walk the ramp in Archana’s creations? The designer is no less excited about showcasing her collection at Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week, 8th Edition, Summer/Showers 2013 either. “I have been part of the BFW for a while and each of my experiences has been memorable. Fashion weeks help in bringing to fore new talent, not to mention the change in trends and I see BFW catering to these requirements,” says Archana. From Zeenat Aman, Sonakshi Sinha, Kangna Ranaut, Ayesha Takia, Dia Mirza and Jacqueline Fernandez to Sameera Reddy... Archana has changed the way many celebrities look as her showstoppers.

And this time around, Bangalore will likely get to watch the hunky Rana Daggubati take to the ramp as Archana’s showstopper at the Lalit Ashok on January 26.
