Truly divine
This performance promises to be mesmerising. Catch The Prophet – Destiny, Divinity, Doubt, a Bharathanatyam dance theatre production by Savitha Sastry. Woven around the story of a prophet, the production carries within it an intensity that will leave you thinking about it for a long time after. The combination of audio visual accompaniments, musical score, and exquisite choreography and denouement makes the presentation an experience worth  your time.

The big band theory
In mood for some interesting band performances? Then you know the drill — just gang up and drive down to BFlat, which plays hosts to some of the most interesting band performances every weekend. Tonight, you can enjoy some folk pop/ fusion tunes with Vasuda Sharma featuring Vasuda (vocals), Zohran Miranda (guitars), Chirayu Vedekar (bass), Andrew Ferrao (keys)and Rahul Hariharan (drums). Saturday sees the return of one of Bangalore's old and beloved bands, Bhoomi, but in a new avatar. Calling themselves Second Hand, the band made of Sujay Harthi (Vocals), Tony Das (Guitars/vocals) — who will be replaced by Galeej Gurus' Naresh Nathan for this concert, Praveen ( bass/vocals), Jason Z (Keys/Vocals), Kishan B (Drums/Vocals) will be playing a set of classic and contemporary rock and pop rock hits along with Bollywood hits too.

 Finally on Sunday, Jodhpur Riff presents The Maya Kamaty Band, who will perform for the very first time in our city. The band comprising Maya Kamaty (vocals), Stéphane (keyboards), Kilik (guitar) and Moana Apo (drums) will bring out the essence of blue, folks and jazz through their performance.

Brew some jazz
Soulful melodies and mesmerising jazzy tunes — this is what this gig is all about. Jazz Theatre at Windmills Craftworks is hosting the trio, Mike del Ferro with Gino Banks (drums) and Sheldon Dsilva (bass). Mike del Ferro is a highly successful pianist and composer who writes and performs an array of musical genres. He has managed to combine elements of the revered canons of western music interspersed with the audacity of jazz improvisation, and paying tribute to the ancient structures of Asian, South American and African traditional music. And now, he along with his band will show you  what melodies are.

Just a couple thing

This is a funny, honest play revolving around a couple, X and Y, who one day discover that they have run out of conversation. As X and Y laugh and bicker and try to rediscover the meaning in their meaningless existence, Z enters their lives! Watch the play to know what happens next?

...and the curtains go up
Finally, here comes the much-awaited theatre fest of the city. The latest edition of Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival begins today. This ten-day theatre festival, titled Samprati: A New Generation Directs Girish Karnad, pays tribute to 50 years of the celebrated playwright by letting young and aspiring directors engage in, and re-interpret Karnad’s works within contemporary spaces, by addressing the current social, political and economical structures we live in. Apart from the  plays,  the festival will also see amateur theatre groups/ corporate theatre clubs/ college theatre clubs  performing one scene from any of Karnad’s plays. Besides seminars, there will be an art appreciation course curated by the arts editor Sadanand Menon. Of course, the highlight of the festival is the fact that Girish Karnad himself will be present at the venue everyday for half an hour, where he will sign his books for the audience. You can also check out paintings created by 14 painters of the 14 plays written by Karnad.

The plays to be staged this weekend are Tughlaq (Kannada) directed by Samkutty Pattomkari, Kalabheetham (Malayalam) directed by Sam George and Naagamandala (Bengali) directed by Abanti Chakraborty.

Comedy central
This weekend at Alliance promises to be a laughter ride with  two amazingly hilarious acts. On Saturday, Centrestage will present The Improv, where five talented stand-up artistes perform to situations given by the audience live. Hosted and directed by Saad Khan, The Improv is going to be one helluva laugh riot. And on Sunday, you can catch the Kannada play, Kedi. A string of eight short stories, the comedic play attacks real-life characters we've all encountered in our lives like sleazy old uncles, the gold digging girlfriend, corrupt Bangalore cops, the cunning theater director and the like.

Here comes the Empress
After the tour of dream pop band Isaac Delusion, Alliance Française is hosting yet another Cracki Records gem for a seven-city Indian tour. Catch L’Impératrice perform live tonight as they promote their latest album EP. L’Impératrice's tunes are a mix of raw soul, funk, disco, jazz and of course electro. And they emit an aural casual coolness that seems to be a signature with most French electronica.
