Doodles, symbols and the iconic Christian Louboutin signature, there's much to look forward to in the maison's Spring-Summer 2018 collection
Spring is all about colour bursts and aesthetic florals – the same can be said for summer, and Christian Louboutin's Spring-Summer 2018 collection, which was on preview at the Christian Louboutin boutique in Mumbai, spells all this and more.
The collection displays a versatile palette of colours from blushing nudes to bold hues, with designs that have been inspired by Christian Louboutin's passion for landscape architecture and the great gardens of history discovered on his world trips; the lavishness of life in a chateau; as well as by Africa. The collection, which plays with a wide array of textures, fabrics and colours, includes rich velvets, embroideries, strass, sequins and vivid printed bows. Silk and satin meet shiny blockheads, bows and laces wrap ankles, and black-and-white calfskin polka dots evoke oversized soap bubbles.
But the most iconic of the Spring-Summer 2018 collection is 'Loubitag' that has shoes for men and women, as well as leather goods that are lovingly printed or embellished with the designer's iconic signature, characters as well as messages that epitomise his and the collection's spirit.
'Open Eyes, Open Heart….and please, No Selfies!' This, Christian Louboutin's approach to both life and work animates with his Spring-Summer 2018 launch of Loubitag. It pays homage to his interactions with his clients, with whom he chats before he personalises their pieces with not only his signature, but playful doodles, lucky charms and even secret notes. Loubitag compiles more than 25 years of designs. The collection includes over-the-knee boots,
open-toe pumps, pointed-toe flats, and the Louis sneaker. The Loubitag is also evoked in intricate beading on the Paloma Clutch, Cabata tote and the Backloubi backpack.
