From Dries Van Noten to Hermes, from Mulberry to Tibi, the fall winter style landscape is awash with a panoply of jewel-toned dresses brimming with artisanal prints - which range from abstract to florals. There's something about making an entrance into a party in a body-skimming, shine-on silk dress and the classic staple can never let you down when you want to make a statement. Designer Nishka Lulla, who likes to use a lot of silk in her creations says, "It's a very Indian and global staple at the same time. It's practical as well. Have fun with nifty structured pieces in silk and opt for numbers, which have a sliver of embellishments. Alternatively, veer towards either a boxy or a fitted style. Needless to say, silk is a versatile fabric and adds lusture and richness to any look."

Needs a washboard stomach

With everyone working out, it's time to flaunt that taut physique in this party essential. Designer Rina Dhaka says, "It needs a washboard stomach and a great fabric for winter."

Classy-yet-sexy

Designer Salita Nanda hails it as "classy and sexy". It's a go-to for a lot of women and has that festive fall. "A contrasting obi belt can give it a definition or team it with a printed belt. All you need is a chic pair of heels with a pointy toe and you're good to go. I see a lot of people pairing it with stockings too. I'd like to suggest that pair it with a pair of textured pretty stockings," says Salita.

Focus on the cut

Stylist Ami Patel suggests, "Opt for a jewel-toned one or in pastels with a flattering cut."
