Mumbai that is known as a city that never sleeps, has been suffering the brunt of its action ---sleeping late. To highlight the necessity of sleeping early, Godrej Interio  announced a new health campaign #sleepat10 which was launched by Olympian Geeta Phogat. The gold medalist wrestler at the launch stressed on how important it is to sleep early, not for just athletes, but for everyone “’I usually sleep around 9 -9.30 and wake up at 4 for my practise, which has been a habit since I was a child. It is essential that people maintain a discipline when it comes to sleeping timings, and I’m saying this from my personal experiences.”

TIPS by Dr Devnani

Here are some tips from Dr. Devnani to help sleep early and to improve quality of the sleep

·  Keeping a fixed schedule of sleep time on weekdays as well as on weekends
·  Ensure that the place where you sleep is conducive (light, sound, mattress)
·  Avoid intake of nicotine or alcohol closer to bedtime
·  Make sure you don’t oversleep
·  Avoid using gadgets before slee

To encourage people to accept this sleep@10 concept, Godrej Interio has created a sleep-o-meter, to track sleeping patterns and sleeping habits. Dr. Preeti Devnani, Clinical Director at Sleep Disorder Clinic, said, “The habit of sleeping early is something that people should really take seriously as the number of problems that stem from not doing so, are several.” She also went on to emphasise that it is scientifically proven by experts that sleeping at around 10 is the best time as it perfectly coordinates with the sun’s patterns.
