The recently-unveiled Balmain and Victoria’s Secret collaboration saw the merging of two sexy ideologies, thus fuelling our collective creative juices. When the softness of the lacy lingerie marries the toughness of a studded biker jacket — you know the offspring would be of nuclear proportions. It’s been a season of some of the coolest collaborations — be it Gucci featuring works of Spanish artist Ignasi Monreal for its Spring Summer 18 campaign or Riccardo Tisci and Nike coming together to give us the most edible sneakers. In the wake of these successful style alliances, After Hrs asks some of our Indian designers known for their va va voom evening wear to create unique looks if they were to collaborate with Victoria’s Secret.

The thought behind this is a cross between both my past showstoppers. Ex-angel Ujjwala Raut in the nude sheer crystal embellished kaftan from my 2015 line and Lisa Haydon in the gold embellished star gown from my 2016 outing. The body-con catsuit with star and crystal embellishments teamed with a volume organza off-shoulder robe is my vision of a Victoria’s Secret angel walking down the runway with her big hair, wings and that bounce in her strut.

FSP is all about being futuristic and it’s for a girl, who’s in the ‘space-disco’ mode. She dons a statement headgear which has all the planets rotating on it and it’s something which Victoria’s Secret hasn’t done till now. We’ve stayed true to our holographic nature, which again complements the core VS aesthetic. The outrageous stockings look like thigh-high boots, which again reflects our signature style.

Shantanu & Nikhil

This is a Victoria’s Secret push-up bralette with influences of brocade and is accessorised with kundan hangings on the arms. The look is completed with Shantanu & Nikhil signature draped sari with brocade pencil trousers and is a combination of both the worlds.

Nikhil Thampi

Our take on Victoria’s Secret reflects our edgy handwriting and signature metallic elements. Minimal-but-sharp shapes, with our metal chips is a look we would love to put on the VS runway if we were ever given the amazing opportunity. For our take on the million dollar bra, we’d do a v-neck bra with strong, exaggerated shoulder pads, completely studded with gold and silver chips.

VS is all about being sexy and glamorous and so is our brand. The model in my sketch wears an all-red pine flower embroidered bra and a high-cut bikini bottom which includes self-thread, cut dana and beads, highlighted with a subtle quantity of mirrors and treated with cut-work. The silk strap lace up on the bra and the bottom add to the sizzle factor. While a shaded georgette satin cape, embroidered with mirror and thread butties, finished with Salli and long thread tassels complete the look. The thigh-high lace-up heels take it a notch higher, making a bold statement yet keeping it feminine.
