Christmas is just round the corner, but many of us simply don’t have the time to toil in the kitchen to prepare a feast worthy of a king or a queen. Stepping in to help you out are residents who get busy during this time of the year dishing out some delicious festive preparations. From a suckling pig, stuffed birds to a platter of different Christmas sweets including marzipan, guava cheese, milk cream and more, we tell you where you can buy your stash of festive treats in the city.

For roasts for the festive season

Borivali-based JB Martin takes their reputation of being ‘Mumbai’s No 1 Roast Masters’ very seriously. They are known for their succulent meats that literally fall off the bone. Their signature — Turduckin, this time is priced at Rs 19,000 for a bird that’s deboned and stuffed with meat of your choice, which is then stuffed into a deboned duck, which then goes into a deboned turkey. There’s also a stuffed chicken (Rs 1,650 onwards) and a suckling pig weighing around eight kgs for (Rs 10,000). To go with that you can also order traditional mulled wine or eggnog for Rs 1,750 for 750 ml.

Relish roasts and a rum chocolate cake

Bandra-based Royston Misquitta is catering to a crowd who simply cannot get enough of the festive spread. From stuffed turkeys for Rs 4,000 (Rs 1,200 per kg, prepared with wine or beer and stuffed with cold cuts, veggies and bacon, served with an in-house sauce) to a roast chicken or pork priced at Rs 500 per kg. For those with a sweet tooth, there’s also a rum and chocolate cake for Rs 1,400 and rum flavoured ice creams that you can indulge in.

For something sweet and savoury

SoBo’s Christina Fernandes accepts order for a range of Christmas delicacies. From a fruit cake with marzipan and fondant icing (Rs 2,500 a kg) to classic panettone (Rs 500 each) to stollen (Rs 500 each), traditional pudding (Rs 1,800 each), fruit mince tarts (Rs 600 for a box of six pieces), iced fruitcake cupcakes (Rs 600 for a box of six), yule log (Rs 550 each for 500 gms), Christmas cookies/gingerbread (Rs 80 each), jujubes (Rs 700 a kg), hazelnut and orange chocolate panforte (Rs 1,800 a kg), Marzipan (Rs 1,800 a kg), date rolls (Rs 1,300 a kg), rocky road (Rs 1,400 a kg, chocolate walnut fudge (Rs 1,800 a kg) and eggnog (Rs Rs 400 for 500 ml). From the savoury section, you can try the Roast stuffed turkey (Rs 7, 500 for five kg), Glazed ham (pineapple and rum and honey bourbon) (Rs 6,500 for five kg approximately), roast duck with plum and apple (Rs 4,000), pork vindaloo with sannas (Rs 600 a portion) and Roast leg of mutton (Rs 2,000), asparagus and mushroom quiche (Rs 900) and pork chops with corn bread (Rs 1,800 for four chops) and roast stuffed chicken for (Rs 1,800).

For an indulgent rum cake

Mahim-based Kean Alvares has been donning the chef’s apron to make his signature rum cake for the festive season for the last three to four years. Available for 1/2 kg for (Rs 800) and a kg for (Rs 1,500), it’s prepared with a blend of liqueur and rum that’s inspired by his dad’s special liqueur.

Dadar resident Ann Dias is a busy lady during this time of the year, as her traditional platter of sweets is in demand. Her Christmas plum cakes, marzipan and guava cheese have been drawing loyal patrons to her doorstep year after year. This time, Ann’s Christmas menu includes walnut, chocolate fudge or date rolls for (Rs 1,200 a kg), marzipan or milk cream for (Rs 1,400 a kg), kulkuls, coconut cordial and nankatais all for (Rs 900 a kg each), neuris (Rs 25 each with rava and coconut filling), jujubes (Rs 900 a kg), cocoa Rocks (Rs 900 a kg), plum or coconut cake (Rs 1,000 a kg), guava cheese (Rs 900 a kg) and tartlets (Rs 28 each).
