We all have our own idea of what the perfect mother should be like, whether she is the homemaker or the career woman. Mother's Day can be a time for reflecting on the relationship we share with our mother and her role in the family.
Bonding over jewellery
Jewellery isn't just something that your husband buys, or at least is "supposed" to buy. Mother to daughter jewellery is an opportunity to pass down family traditions, create precious memories and give your little one a keepsake.
The new vs. the old
In the recent past, there have been demands for designs such as two pendants that each hold half of a heart or even identical bracelets. We've also had clients buying their mothers a locket and putting their picture inside, an engraved ring with a message such as "World's Best Mom" or personalized charm bracelets with charms shaped like hearts or set with birthstones of their children.
My pick for Mother's Day
I would love to give my daughter my bracelet, which has the Om symbol studded with diamonds and champagne-coloured diamonds set in 18 K gold, strung with black cord because the simplicity of this bracelet makes it easy to wear. When she grows up, I would like her to wear this daily and cherish the bond we share every moment, every day.

Falguni Mehta, Jadau Jewellery Designer
All daughters are reflections of their mothers, and Mother's Day is an added occasion to celebrate that. It is the day when I get pampered by my kids.
Bonding over jewellery
A piece of jewellery shared between a mother and daughter is a priceless possession. Jewellery is the medium through which I can share and express my experiences with my daughter. She has also started taking an interest in jadau and all the exciting possibilities of designing with jadau.
The new vs. the old
Today, discerning clients are willing to wear jadau in more eclectic designs with traditional motifs assembled and designed to suit contemporary sensibilities. People want stylized pieces with intrinsic value and most of them want something that is more personalized, an heirloom to pass down to future generations.
My pick for Mother's Day
This is a three-lined jadau set with uncut diamonds in different shapes with a classic side clasp and earrings—a simple and elegant set that is a perfect heirloom piece.

Malini Agarwalla, Designer and Owner, Malaga
Mother's Day is special as my daughter and I get to spend some time together and do something fun together, just the two of us!
Bonding over jewellery
Any family heirloom, jewellery especially, is precious not just because of its components but also because it carries a wealth of memories, heritage and love in it. Sharing that gift between a mother and daughter is amazing as our perception of how important an heirloom stems from our bond with our daughters.
The new vs. the old
Jewellery has become bigger and bolder in recent years. With a penchant for individuality and a growing sense of fun even with precious jewellery, customers are becoming much more conscious of how their jewellery complements their personality, sense of style etc., resulting in a lot of fusion designs and use of non-traditional stones and settings.
My pick for Mother's Day
It's the perfect gift for Mother's Day because it is precious and valuable like the relationship, and can speak of how important your mother is to you and how you view her.
