Venkatesh Ellore (53), an artist from Bangalore will be in Mumbai on August 22 to draw these personalised sketches. In this, a Ganesha drawing will be made using an alphabetical word or particular names — either the name of an individual, family or even a business firm. Ellore visualises the Ganesha from the name given to him and sketches it in two minutes.
Ellore is into the business of commercial art for the past five years. “I started drawing the Ganesha names almost 10 years back,” informs Ellore. People send him the names via e-mail and he sketches the figure of Lord Ganesha and makes the final drawing using software such as Corel Draw and Abode Photoshop. “I send my work to the client online and they can print and frame it thereafter,” says Ellore.
Ellore doesn’t limit his artwork to computer software and printouts alone. He draws Ganesha images and etches them on brass, copper and steel too. The etchings can be framed and gifted to loved ones. “I also make silver and gold pendants using the same format,” says Ellore. “I generally pray before I draw a sketch and during this time I can visualise various forms of the Ganesha and the blessings are transferred to the painting as well,” he says.
The Adobe and Corel paintings cost Rs3,500 for a 8X12 frame, while the brass, copper and steel etchings cost Rs10,000 for a 12X10 frame. The silver pendant costs Rs5,000 and gold pendant Rs18,000.
In Mumbai, he will be drawing sketches in front of live audiences at the Om Ved Art Gallery in Phoenix Mills, Lower Parel. He will be sketching Ganesha using a name with black ink pen on an A4 size sheet. People can get customised Ganesha designs and gift it to their loved ones.
