From Sobo to the northern suburbs, we visited the latest haunts which have opened in the city, sampled their signature dishes and jotted down some that we recommend you try on your next visit. There’s a lot to choose from including Indonesian-style Sambal fish, a pita pocket inspired naan turnover, a slow-braised pork belly to a perfectly pan seared cut of salmon. Pair it with some tipsy cocktails and you are good to go.
Made with chittoor buff, which is marinated in tequila. The jalapeños and onions add that perfect crunch. Red bean puree, jalapeño cream, homemade salsa, sautéed buff and a generous amount of locally sourced cheddar is served on a handmade tostada. It is finished with chilli oil, naati coriander and lemon wedges.

The bar has explored possibilities that lie hidden in organic fruits and flowers while going a step further by making their own tonics and Vanillin is a heady combination of gin, vanilla and cinnamon tonic water, served with pear-spiced ice.

Just for this place, we recommend you ditch the drinks and finish your meal with a bowl of this sweet delight. Best described as the south Indian version of kheer. It’s rich, creamy and will leave you wanting more. Definitely worth a try. The caramel custard comes a close second.

Coffee lovers who need their daily dose of caffeine, even if it’s in a cocktail can try this one. It has espresso vodka, Kahlua as well as coffee. It’s strong but also has a sweet syrup added to cut the potency. Price Rs 450
Stuffed with a meat of your choice — chicken or mutton with cheese and choice of gravy, it’s a north Indian version of the pita pocket that you can have on the go.

If you love all things tangy, this mocktail prepared with tamarind and freshly squeezed orange juice and some chaat masala will definitely have your tastebuds singing.

The ever-popular afternooner, a tradition welcomed from the British Raj is Bombay Brasserie’s take on the classic Gin and Tonic. It is served with Angosutra bitters and cherries.

It’s not your regular mushroom on toast, and boy are we glad about that. You can enjoy Canto’s version of it with mushrooms on toast with parmesan shavings and a balsamic jaggery reduction that ties it all in.
