The White Owl has introduced a new drinks and food menu. We tell you if there’s reason to hoot for it. We started off with the Roasted Cherry Tomato Bruschetta (Rs 285) which had generous amounts of cherry tomatoes, garlic and mozzarella. However, the sourness of the cherry tomatoes overpowered all the other flavours. Easily fixed, by reducing the quantity of tomatoes. The Peri Peri Chicken Skewers served in a bell pepper sauce (Rs 355), was high on spice but lacked any other distinct flavour. The Moroccan Lamb Skewers in a tomato yoghurt sauce ( Rs 395) tasted okay. While the starters did disappoint the salads definitely lived up to our expectations. The Chicken and Rice Noodles (Rs 295) prepared using garden-fresh lettuce, coriander and shallots tossed in a lemongrass-chilli dressing was refreshing, and served in a glass jar, adding to the visual appeal.

The Roasted Baby Lamb Rocket (Rs 375) made with scallions, mushroom and pumpkin-bits , tossed in red wine vinaigrette is also a delicious option. We also tried the Basil-infused Grilled Chicken (Rs 495) served with mushroom duxelles, roast garlic mash and red wine jus. The combination works as a whole, a tasty entree. The Pan-seared basa (Rs 525) served with pok choy, potato wedges and garlic sauce is also a good option. For dessert we recommend you order the White Chocolate Creme Brulee with candied orange zest (Rs 235) that’s light, refreshing and lip-smacking. The Grilled Pear and Apple Crumble drizzle served with vanilla ice cream (Rs 275), should be your second option. Both the shots that we tried Ella (Rs 425) made with tequila, fresh watermelon and lime cordial and Doper (Rs 395) made with white rum, coconut and apple were disappointing as they lacked the punch.
