Food served in a cone is not everyone’s go-to-meal considering apprehensions about whether it will pass the taste test and will hold well on a commute. However, rest assured Bandra-based The Chimney Factory has this one worked out. Not only does it take care of your meal on the go, but it does so without compromising on quality. Here’s more.

Try apple pie in a cone

Thank Prague for this culinary treat that has made it’s way to the Queen of the suburbs. Co-owner Dhaval Shah informs us that he was toying with the idea of entering the culinary space and happened to be browsing food images on social media when he came across images of food served in cones in Prague. He adds, “I realised this was the perfect opportunity for me to bring this concept to India. I decided to go to Europe and learn the process of making this Hungarian delicacy. When I returned, I along with my brother Amit and brother-in-law Neel Shah opened The Chimney Factory.”

The technical know-how was just one part, Dhaval went on to experiment with different fillings and zoned in on flavours that he felt worked best. When we dropped by we tried the Mamma Rosso (Rs 200), assorted vegetables in a creamy tomato sauce and the Mexican cone (Rs 180) that was filled with guacamole and salsa. Both impressed us and passed the taste and freshness quotient. Definitely, worth a try when you are on the go. We washed that down with a Pineapple and Elderflower cooler (Rs 150) that’s refreshing and not coyingly sweet. While their Tiramisu in a cone is a bestseller according to Dhaval, we decided to go with the Apple Pie (Rs 210), and boy were we impressed. Swirls of vanilla ice cream topped layers of apple compote, Dulce De Leche, almond flakes and all of it came coated with cinnamon dust, it’s not only pretty to look at but is scrumptious to eat.

Overall verdict: Head to The Chimney Factory and share your own conical tales. A meal on the go that’s easy to enjoy and makes for a yummy break and a droolworthy instagram picture.
