Surfing and music festival set to kick off in Covelong, near Chennai

The schedule for the Classic Surf and Music Festival 2015 includes not just bands like Skrat, Swarathma, Grey Shack, Grasshopper Green and Oikyotaan but also performances by Carnatic musician TM Krishna and Sufi singers, the Nagore Brothers.

What can get better than the beautiful sea, fantastic music and some great surfing? The international Classic Surf and Music Festival 2015 is back in Covelong (near Chennai) this year between September 18 and 20.

Those who are ardent surfers must head to Covelong next week. This year the surfing competition at the festival is set to go international as they have tied up with the Asian Surfing Championship. The surfing competition will take place from 7 am to 3 pm, while live music takes centre stage from 5 pm to 9 pm.

The schedule for the Classic Surf and Music Festival 2015 includes not just bands like Skrat, Swarathma, Grey Shack, Grasshopper Green and Oikyotaan but also performances by Carnatic musician TM Krishna and Sufi singers, the Nagore Brothers.

If you are into yoga, then there is yoga on the beach including workshops and practice sessions which are a must-attend. While entry to the festival is free, the Yoga Shala is ticketed. There are other activities as well like the kayak and katamaran races and water gun fights.

The TTK Group and EarthSync tied up with the Surfing Federation of India in 2013 to create the Classic Surf and Music Festival and it has been growing bigger each year, attracting people from all over India.
