STYLE HUNTER: Say hello to thong heels

Recently Kim Kardashian West was seen sporting thong heels touted to be the ‘it’ shoe of Spring Summer 2018. One could safely attribute its comeback to ‘90s minimalism having a moment of sorts. Experts are touting these skinny heels to be a cooler options than your trusty flip flops as they offer in the oppressive heat. One’s clearly spoilt for options — from Manolo Blahnik’s jewelled thong sandals to Yeezy scuba heels.

Feet gotta be pretty

Stylist Allia Al Rufai had some fun with these in the ‘90s and she opines that they will definitely have a comeback. “You need seriously pretty feet to pull them off though. Sexy no doubt, they can be your go-to summer evening heel. You could wear them with a pair of crop pants or even a summer dress. Interestingly enough, they complement the Indian wear too,” says Allia, who prefers the ones that come with straps that go around the ankles and somehow offer more support. However, she gently cautions, “There are times when your foot slides left and right.”  

Casual slipper avatar

Designer Pria Kataaria Puri sees it as a hot trend as they are easy and comfortable to wear. “They are a summary version of the kitten heels. As a lot of ankle-length silhouettes are in vogue such as palazzos, capris and midis, I see this trend in shoe been quite popular. Also, it has a very casual slipper  look which is perfect for summer,” says Pria.
