Do things for joy of it
In Kodi Bengre, a small fishing village along the Karnataka coast, where our Shaka Surf Club is based, the kids who surf with us, surf for the sheer joy of it. They are aren't surfing “to be cool” or for any ulterior motive. Watching them always reminds me of my reason for surfing and the sheer joy of doing something purely for the sake of doing it.

Forgive, Smile, Trust

Distrusting everyone has become a bad habit, but the kids I teach truly motivate me to undo this newly-formed trait. They forgive easily, don't keep grudges and trust even after it has been broken. For me that's the biggest lesson. They don't hide their feelings, and the honesty with which they express their emotions, inspires me to be open up too. Finally, if you spend as much time with children as I do, then you too won't be able to help but learn to smile at silliest of things.

Learn. And, Don't Quit.
My students keep me young and open minded. Their love for learning and exploring makes me want to read more and know more. As a result, I am able to connect with them better. Another thing I love about some students is their their perseverence, sometimes they just go out of their way for assignments and will read up or watch movies related to subject even before a class has been conducted on it. An example, one of my students was confused between pursuing science and psychology, so while she was preparing for her medical entrance exams, she also took to experimental studies in psychology, read up literature on the subject, attended conferences related to it and did extra assignments as well. I was amazed by her systematic approach and the perseverent attitude of some like her inspire me to do so too. What's most heart warming is the compassion of some students towards those who are not as good as them and how selflessly they are willing to help.
