If you can't get enough of sushi and sashimi, here's another place you can check out. Citrus at The Leela Mumbai has recently launched a new Japanese counter, featuring two separate menus. You can choose to go a la carte or opt for set meals or platters. We dropped by for a tasting, read on to find out what's on offer. From the rare bluefin tuna to a selection of teas and sake, there's a lot to feast on. We started off our meal with a Miso soup (Rs 500), the stock was flavoured well and had slices of tofu floating on the top alongside seadweed, garnished with scallion.

A perfect start to the meal, we then tried a Shira-ae (Rs 600), a mashed tofu salad also prepared using spinach, sesame sauce and zucchini. The spinach and tofu form the base which is topped with sesame seeds and decorated with zucchini slices. Easy on the palate, this one makes for a good vegetable side dish. For starters, chef recommended the Rock Corn (Rs 700), the best way to describe this creation is sweet corn which is fried and served with a spicy mayonnaise sauce, it's crispy and the sweet, spicy combo works well for this starter. The Hamachi Carpaccio (Rs 1500) (Hamachi) is a migatory fish which is served with jalapenos and ponzu sauce.

A simple dish with basic flavours that is elevated because of the citrus-based ponzu sauce and the kick of the jalapenos. The Sake Tataki Carpaccio (Rs 850) is basically pepper seared salmon carpaccio, served with ponzu, kaiso, truffle oil. It's more complex that the previous dish but has a variation of flavours which come together to enhance the taste of the salmon. This is one of the few places that also serves delicious and innovative veg sushi rolls. We loved and highly the Veg Dragon Roll (Rs 650) prepared with cucumber and served with chilli sauce, and topped with fried bread crumbs which give you a crunchy after taste. The Avocado cucumber roll (Rs 550) is another interesting preparation, that's served with soya bean pepper wrapping, that's makes for a colourful bite. However,if you just simply want to feast on sushi and sashimi, just go ahead and order the Citrus Platter (Rs 3,100). It comes with five Nigiri and one roll and five kinds of Sashimi). You can wrap up the meal with a selection of teas.
