If it weren’t for the heartache these would really be amusing. Take a look at the line-up of lines you wish you could bin with the one we used them on you

It’s not you, it’s me
This has been used often to unsuccessfully soften the blow of a heartbreak. However, no matter how blind you have been in love you are likely to see that this one is a blatant lie and actually translates as ‘Yes it is you, but I am a coward and can’t admit it.’

I am moving to Timbuktu

Well the first part is what really matters the fact  that the person you were in a relationship with is claiming that they want to break-up because  they don’t believe that distance makes the heart fonder, and are more likely to play the field once there.

We have something great here but I am not ready for a relationship yet

Ignore the first part they don’t mean it because if the time you spent together was really that great there is no reason why your soon to be ex would not want to be in a relationship with you.

I’m not attracted to you anymore
This is as honest as it can get.

I need my space
This is nothing but an excuse unless you have been overtly possessive and driving your partner nuts. In that case it would just mean that he/she is being honest.

I can’t do this anymore
Not sure how you are supposed to interpret this because it’s so vague. A break-up line only a coward would use to bail out.
