Six artists paint on guitars as part of Kala Ghoda Arts festival

The annual arts festival has constantly endeavoured to bring together various artists across different fields. In keeping with this is the Gibson GuitART For Good project. The three-fold project comprises five 10-foot tall installations made in the likeness of the iconic Gibson and Epiphone Les Paul Guitar, which will be set up at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and painted live by various charities like Art for Akanksha And MARD, an artwork contest that's open to everyone and an auction that will see six renowned names in the field of art showcase their skills. Taking the Gibson and Epiphone Les Paul Guitars as their canvas, Brinda Miller, Arzan Khambatta, Jaideep Mehrotra, Sunil Padwal, Paresh Maity and Seema Kohli will work their magic. These guitars will then be auctioned off both onsite and online from February 1-9. Talking about his artwork, Jaideep Mehrotra says, It symbolises the audience watching a musician performing live on stage. This is the view all musicians have whilst being on stage - the eyes of the audience on them. It also attempts to represent the veins and arteries that flow blood into the guitar, making it come alive! Another representation is that of the ivy plant, where the eyes symbolising the leaves, perfused a dark surface.
