Choreographer Shiamak Davar recently came out of his period of reclusive hibernation  — which he often goes through between shows — and is showing his latest dance work Selcouth. The one hour stage show is a far cry from his flashy Bollywood work and features, in his own words, pure forms of dance and nothing but that. “There are no props or anything else flamboyant in the show and Selcouth showcases a very spiritual side of my work,” says Shiamak who is known for his spiritual streak, something he has nurtured alongside dance, since his teens.

The man who choreographed many Bolly blockbusters, considers his fundamental purposes on Earth to further dance as an art form. Selcouth means unusual according to Davar and the avant-garde show is being performed by graduates of his One Year Intensive Certification Program (OYP).  The choreographer has been running dance classes for more than 20 years and his latest show has already been viewed by Mumbai’s glitterati including Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia, Arshad Warsi and Maria Goretti and Queenie Singh to name a few.
