After a hectic week, the one thing that fashion designer and politician Shaina NC looks forward to the most is spending the Sunday with her kids Shanaya, 12, and Ayaan, five. calling them her de-stress mantra she says that spending time with them makes her feel relaxed and rejuvenates her the most.

“To be at home doing absolutely nothing, but lolling on the bed and maybe watching TV or playing a game with them is what I enjoy the most,” she says. The three of them love listening to music and even dancing together. “Or I could be reading stories to them,” says Shaina, adding, “Just being with them constitutes my happiest moments.”

Shaina spends so much time travelling for work that she really treasures her annual vacation when she can unwind. “London is my favourite place and I enjoy taking my kids to the parks there. My best friend stays in London and connecting with her brings great happiness to me. Just sitting and chatting with her is so wonderful.”

Back at home in India, her ideal Sunday (and something which happens very rarely) is when she has no engagements to deal with. “Practically every Sunday my parents Nana and Munira Chudasama host a family lunch at their house for which all of us, their kids and our children, their grandkids are invited. It’s a large gathering to say the least.”

Once in a while she and her husband Munish travel to their second home in Pune and spend some relaxed times over there. “When I’m in Mumbai, sometimes I do book myself for a spa treatment — something that is quick, relaxing and convenient.” Once in a while she does a spot of yoga, mainly the surya namaskar, 54 of them at a time.

She reveals that she and hubby Munish with the children enjoy their outings together. Restaurant visits as a family are also something they all love whether it’s a fancy restaurant or relishing street food. “Sometimes we even go to the club where my daughter and I indulge in a game or two of badminton. My daughter swims and I used to do the same, but I prefer playing badminton nowadays.”

When the lady is on her own she loves cleaning the house.  “Since I’m an orderly sort of person, keeping my shoes, bags and clothes in order is one of the most joyful ways of keep myself occupied.” Strangely enough Shaina also finds public speaking immensely relaxing. Guiding college youth on choosing their specialties or motivating them is a big incentive for her. “Helping out with charities is also something I do in my spare time that is immensely rewarding personally,” she adds.
