It is said Switzerland is like heaven on earth and this came true for choreographer  Sandip Soparrkar and wife Jesse. Recently the couple were invited to perform at the closing ceremony of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and they also used the opportunity to take a break in the Swiss destination.

‘Gave up our diet’
Talking about the freezing temperature and food, Soparrkar says, “As soon as we landed we felt the cold. The temperature was almost -5 degrees and everything around us was freezing. As dancers and performers at a world event we ought to have been on a diet but we gave it up and indulged ourselves with a good lavish breakfast of different varieties of Swiss cheese, chocolates, from dark to white and some great eggs, ham, bacon and sausages, which are the specialties of Switzerland.”

Car caper
Travelling from Zurich to Davos was one memorable experience, “The drive through the city of Zurich to the small towns was breathtaking. From no snow in Zurich to almost six feet snow in Davos, the progress was a three-hour drive but one to
remember forever. The Autobahn was a dream to drive on. We loved the snow capped mountains, lake and picket fenced houses, they all looked almost out of a fairy tale,” recalls Soparrkar .

Exploring around
So what was it like in Davos? “Davos is a small town in the south  east region of Switzerland where the World Economic Forum takes place every year. The security due to the global leaders was tremendous but that still did not stop us from playing in the snow and making a snow man. People felt we were completely crazy for taking up the offer of dancing at the WEF and seeing the
perfect Alps of Switzerland,” Sandip adds.

Did they shop?  “Yes, we moved to the best area, Bahnhofstrasse where designer labels have their houses and Jesse and I decided to shop till we drop,” he says.

Mixed platter
“We had everything from fish, to turkey, duck, chicken, and lamb, served hot and cold. My gorgeous wife sat besides me by the lake
and what else could one ask for? This trip was indeed
one to remember forever,” he ends.
