Royal disgrace

The Windsor family may appear to be picture perfect from a far. And though they try to keep their personal lives well guarded, the royal family today have become celebrities in their own right and their every move is tracked by the media. From racially sensitive remarks to sensational pictures and underage sex allegations, the royals have been associated with it all.

Prince Andrew and his sexcapades
Recently Andrew, the Duke of York came into the limelight for the wrong reasons. A woman, Virginia Roberts claims that years ago she was forced to have sex with the Prince by his former friend Jeffrey Epstein, who she said turned her into a sex slave. Virginia was 17 at that time making her underage and alleges that she suffered sexual abuse by Epstein too. Buckingham Palace has since denied the claims, but the case is still ongoing. The Prince has also in the past dated Koo Stark, a porn star and Denise Martell, a one-time Playboy model.

Fergie and her toe fetish
In 1992, the marriage of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson (Fergie) was already rocky when photographs were released of the duchess having her toes sucked by an American businessman John Bryan. At the time, she was on vacation with him and her two young girls in the South of France and was caught topless. Needless to say the embarrassing shots brought the royal family much shame. They officially divorced in 1996, but in 2010, Sarah again caused a scandal when she was caught on tape offering an undercover reporter access to the prince for £500,000.

Prince Charles-Camilla and their intimate conversation
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles first fell in love in the 70s and though both went on to marry other people, they continued the affair even after, with Princess Diana famously declaring, "There were three of us in the marriage." In the early 90s a private telephone conversation between the two lovers was recorded and released bringing much embarrassment to the family. Transcripts of the Camillagate scandal as it was called had Charles exclaiming to Camilla, "I want to be reincarnated as a tampon and live inside your trousers forever."

Prince Harry and his wild ways
Currently fourth in line to the throne, Prince Harry has often been known as the party boy. In 2012, he was spotted partying in Las Vegas in his birthday suit. Two pictures of the prince appeared playing strip billiards with a bunch of women. He was apparently on a break before he was to return to Afghanistan. The pictures made front page news. Harry has also in the past admitted to smoking marijuana, and in 2005, he wore a costume of a Nazi officer, for which he later issued an apology.

Kate and her topless pics
Just as her brother-in-law Prince Harry, Kate Middleton aka the Duchess of Cambridge, found topless pictures of herself published in a French magazine. The photos were shot while she was on vacation with her husband, Prince William, in Provence, France. The royal family has since taken legal action against the publication and released a statement saying, "We certainly feel a red line's been crossed. . . . Their Royal Highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner." The family was upset as Kate is the first future queen to be pictured topless. Her bare bottom was also photographed last year when the dress she was wearing flew with the wind while on tour in Australia.

Prince Philip and his racist statements
Prince Philip has got himself in hot water on more than one occasion for his strange remarks. While on tour in China in 1986, the Duke of Edinburgh told a British student, "If you stay here much longer, you will go home with slitty eyes." Another time he asked Australian Aboriginal leaders, "Do you still throw spears at each other?" In 2003, he also told the President of Nigeria, who was in traditional attire at the time, "You look like you're ready for bed!"
