Roderick Matthews is a British writer best known for his book Jinnah vs Gandhiand. Matthews has written three books on India and it's political past and present. 

In this podcast he talks about his upcoming book, titled The Great Indian Rope Trick: Does the future of democracy lie with India? and discusses how Indian democracy has survived with a highly diverse population, how the way the Indian Constitution is written has contributed to it and what lessons can be learnt from it. He also speaks about how the world's largest democracy has stood the test of time, while its neighbouring countries in south and southeast Asia struggle with maintaining democracy.

The book has been published by Hachette India
