The Great Indian Kebab Fest at MoMo Café is serving about 14 different kebabs including veg and non-veg options.
Food The veg menu had interesting sounding variations — like the Golconda kebab (Cheese and pomegranate stuffed greens, deep fried) or Nadru Ki Shammi (Mashed lotus stems mix with spices and scented with exotic Indian masalas), Kathal Ki Shammi (jackfruit patties mixed with aromatic Indian spices), Dahi Ke Kebab (hung yoghurt patties mixed with almond and honey) and Paneer Dulari (cottage cheese stuffed with dry fruits, black cumin and khoya), but sadly all of them failed to live up to our expectations. The only common factor was an overload of spice that had us reaching for a glass of water to gain some respite. The Dahi ke kebab and the Paneer Dulari were too sour. The non-veg selection was a bit better, but more average that excellent.
The star dish Nashiley Jhinge (brandy spiked jumbo prawn marinated with herbs and char grilled) again was too spicy, making it hard to taste any other flavour. The Mahi- e-kushk (Mint and black cumin marinated fish, cooked in tandoor) is a good option for fish lovers. The Gosht Chapli Kebab (sliced leg of lamb marinated with chilly, nutmeg, and other spices) was tasty, but could do with a little less nutmeg and spice). The Murg Kandahari Tikka was flavourful and made for a tasty bite. Toning down the spice, revamping the veg selection and introducing some desserts could really help.
